About the Arkansas Master'Singers
The Master'Singers are ministers of music/worship leaders, directors, accompanists, choir leaders, pastors, staff members and staff spouses from Arkansas Baptist churches in every corner of the state and all places in between. These men and women find incredible joy in singing and worshiping together, in sharing fellowship, and in praying and supporting each other as they serve weekly in their respective churches.
The Men's Chorus began in 1961 as the Arkansas Singing Men. The Women's Chorus was organized as the Arkansas Singing Women in 1973, and the combined chorus was formed soon after that. The group adopted the name "Master'Singers" in the early 1990's. The Master'Singers are a Cooperative Program ministry of the Arkansas Baptist Convention.
Annual venues include State Convention meetings and Concerts of Worship in local churches as well as other venues such as prisons. The music of the Master'Singers has been heard around the world, encouraging churches and sharing the message of Jesus Christ in Guatemala, Brazil, Germany, Russia, and in Ukraine in 2014, 2018, and a return trip coming in April 2020.
There has always been a little confusion about the Master'Singers name. Some people think, "Boy, they sure are full of themselves to call themselves master singers." However, nothing is further from the truth. You see, it's all in the apostrophe. When you look closely at our name, you'll notice a seemingly insignificant little apostrophe. But that one little apostrophe makes all the difference.
Apostrophes are used for many different reasons, to form contractions, to indicate plurals, or to form possessive nouns. In our case it has all to do with possession. When we say we are the Master'Singers, we are truly saying we are THE Master's Singers. We've been bought and paid for by Jesus Christ and are striving to serve Him in the best way we know how--through music.
So, when you say Master'Singers, be sure and put a little emphasis on Whose we are! We would love to tell you about Him as well. Just ask us and we'll be so glad to share!
Membership in the Master'Singers is open to all ministers of music/worship leaders, directors, accompanists, choir leaders, pastors, staff members and staff spouses from Arkansas Baptist churches. Musicians from local churches are invited to sing with the Master'Singers with the endorsement of their minister of music/worship leader.
